Lions Clubs International
Lions Clubs International (LCI) is the world’s largest organization with 1.4 million members. Today, there are approximately 46000 Lions clubs in over 200 countries and geographic areas. Regardless of the language Lions speak, religion they practice or politics they support, all share a common dedication to helping people in need.
The Lions motto is “We Serve”. Local Lions Club programs include sight conservation, hearing and speech conservation, diabetes awareness, youth outreach, international relations, environmental issues, and many other programs. The discussion of politics and
religion is forbidden. The LIONS acronym also stands for Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations’ Safety.
Lions Clubs International Foundation is “Lions helping Lions serve the world”. Donations provide funding in the form of grants to financially assist Lions districts with large-scale humanitarian projects that are too expensive and costly for Lions to finance on their own.
The Foundation aids Lions in making a greater impact in their local communities, as well as around the world. Through LCIF, Lions ease pain and suffering and bring healing and hope to people worldwide.
Lions Club aims to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs. At the heart of Lions clubs there is one constant: service. Giving your time and energy to
others is a fantastic way to help your community. Yet, it also provides a great feeling foryou that can spread and have a positive impact in your life and how you approach the world. Lions Clubs plan and participate in a wide variety of service projects that meet theinternational goals of Lions Clubs International as well as the needs of their local communities.
An integral part of the Lions family, Leos also have their own global network of over 6500 Leo clubs in more than 140 nations. This international scope fosters a unique
global identity among Leos and Lions. Leo clubs provide young people with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community.
Through the Leo Club Program, young people develop and practice leadership, organization and social skills through participation in Leo club activities and service projects. Involvement in these activities often fosters a lifetime commitment to helping others, while enhancing the community.
